Privacy policy
v1.0. Last updated 17 July 2026.
Notice. This English translation is provided for informational purposes only. In the event of any discrepancy between the French and English versions, the French version shall prevail.
Who is responsible for your data
Laurent Gentil EI (SIREN 990560633), the publisher named in the legal notice, is the data controller. Contact for any privacy matter: contact@mortemain.com.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, and your means of signing in (password, two-factor, passkey, or the third-party account you use to sign in).
- Check-in data: what your jobs send (timestamps, success or failure), plus the check names and schedules you configure. We do not keep the request body.
- Technical data: minimal server logs (such as IP address and time) needed to run and secure the service.
- Messages: anything you send us through the contact or support form.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To provide the monitoring and deliver your alerts (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (our legitimate interest).
- To answer your messages (our legitimate interest, or your consent).
- For the waitlist, to email you (your consent), with one-click removal in every message.
No selling, no advertising, no AI
We do not sell your data. We run no third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and our pages load nothing from a third-party service. We do not use your data to train, fine-tune or feed any AI system. Your monitoring data stays on our servers in the European Union; the only data that leaves is the alerts you choose to route to your own channels, and your sign-in if you use a third-party account.
Where your data lives
Exclusively in the European Union, on servers in France and Germany. We hand your data to no processor outside the EU.
Who processes it for us
- OVH SAS (France) and netcup GmbH (Germany): hosting.
- A payment provider (to be designated) will handle payments if and when paid plans launch; it will be named here at that time, and we will not see your full card details.
- The alert channels you configure (for example Telegram, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, ntfy, or your own webhook) receive the alert content you direct to them.
- If you sign in with a third-party account, the provider concerned (GitHub, Google, LinkedIn or Microsoft) handles the sign-in on its own systems and passes us your identifier and email address. Signing in with a password involves none of them.
How long we keep it
Account data for as long as your account exists. Check-in history and raw logs for the retention period of your plan (from 90 days up to 3 years of history, and 3 to 30 days of raw logs). Waitlist entries until you remove yourself. Backups are rotated on a rolling basis.
After an account is deleted we keep for one year, encrypted and detached from the account: your email address, the account dates, and any parting message you leave us. Everything else is destroyed at once, along with the keys that made it readable.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal data, and you can object to or ask us to restrict certain processing. Write to contact@mortemain.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
Cookies
Mortemain sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The website stores your theme and language choice locally in your browser; the app uses a strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in.
Changes
We will update this policy as the service evolves and post the new version here with its date. See also our terms of service.
