Mortemain is built and run by one person, with simple, proven tools. This page is here to answer the questions you might have.
Mortemain notices when something that was supposed to run, didn't: a cron job, a nightly backup, a scheduled pipeline, a certificate renewal. It is a dead man's switch for the automated work your servers do, and that is the entire product. It stays that focused because a tool that does one job well is a tool you can rely on for it.
It runs on simple, proven technology, hosted in the European Union under the GDPR, and it is opinionated about the jobs and backups it was built to watch.
No AI
Your data is not an AI training set.
We do not feed your data to any AI system, for training, "improvement", or anything else. Your checks, their history, and everything Mortemain records about your jobs stay on our servers in the European Union. The only data that ever leaves is the alerts you choose to route to your own channels (email, Slack, Telegram, ntfy, webhook).
